"Changes"
Ok, so you've decided... You're changing roles, or making a more substantial career move. Who and what do you rely on? #jobseekers #careers #worldofwork #hybridwork #video
Whether it is a fairly informal career conversation or a more formal job interview, there are three key areas that consistently come up when speaking with customer success professionals about their roles.
The first is a genuinely detailed conversation about the technology stack, the platforms and the systems these professionals use in their day-to-day work.
That conversation speaks directly to the level of sophistication with which someone approaches their job on a regular basis, beyond what a job title alone can convey. As part of that same thread, it is also worth exploring whether they have had the opportunity to actually deploy or roll out customer success-related applications themselves, rather than simply using tools someone else set up for them.
The second area is understanding the organisation itself, including what the reporting hierarchy looks like and which broader part of the business the person sits within. Are they part of a technical team, or aligned more closely with customer support?
Do they report into a chief revenue officer, or somewhere else entirely? These structural details give real insight into the underlying ethos of the organisation, along with the drivers and genuine perceptions of what the role is meant to achieve.
The third and final area is compensation, and specifically how these professionals are rewarded for their work. Understanding the incentive structure behind a role reveals a great deal about the behaviours and priorities it actually drives day-to-day, whether that emphasis falls on service, support, product feedback, renewals, or some combination of all of them.
