Hiring Signals 'The How-to'
Hopefully, my video last week was super clear about the need to establish a “new normal” for job hunting. More often than not, it will be too late when you get to see a job posting.
So please do more, better, and sooner. Here is how I suggest you go about it, in actual practice.

A common thread among job seekers who've applied to dozens of roles with zero replies is timing. By the time a job is publicly advertised, the process is often already well underway internally, which means the newspaper-era approach to job hunting- wait for the ad, then apply- is no longer good enough.
The better approach borrows directly from sales and marketing practices. Instead of waiting for the "we're hiring" notice, look for the earlier signals that tend to come before it: hiring intent showing up in career sites, financial announcements, or general business news well ahead of an ad going live.
Putting this into practice doesn't need to be complicated. Start by setting up a recurring, well-defined prompt in an AI tool like Claude's Cowork space, one built to scan job advertisements, career pages, financial news and business news on a schedule. Run it, review the results, and refine the prompt based on what comes back. Whether the output lands in email or a messaging platform like Slack doesn't matter much; what matters is checking the quality of what's being surfaced and adjusting until it's genuinely useful.
Worth noting: running a recurring, scheduled search like this generally requires a paid tier of the AI tool involved rather than a free plan. And if any setup prompts feel technical along the way, the simplest answer is usually the right one; there's no need to overthink the configuration.
This kind of early signal tracking shifts a job search from reactive to proactive, catching opportunities before they're competing with a flood of other applicants. If you want a head start on building this out yourself, get in touch; we've already put together a working schedule and prompt template worth borrowing from.
